4-Day Break

• Day 1 – Travel to Hasselt, in Belgium, for a three-night stay. Welcome drink on arrival.
• Day 2 – Hasselt Fashion Walk (included) and Maasmechelen Village (included). This morning we have an included fashion walk around the centre of Hasselt, accompanied by our local guide who will introduce us to the best local shops and boutiques, and give us an insight into the range of fashion items and accessories available in Hasselt. You can also visit Hasselt’s own Fashion Museum, which charts over 250 years of western fashion, and contains styles by famous designers such as Christian Dior and Coco Chanel (or why not take the opportunity to discover and sample the local ‘jenever’ or ‘Dutch gin’, at the National Jenever Museum?). Whilst exploring Hasselt, take time to sample the local delicacies such as Hasselt Coffee, which is freshly brewed coffee with crème de cacao, a small amount of brandy, plus a generous amount of sweet whipped cream, or sample the local spiced biscuit ‘speculaas’ accompanied by some chilled jenever, in the local tradition. This afternoon we travel to ‘Maasmechelen Village’, a chic designer outlet with over 100 shops and boutiques where you can shop to your heart’s content. This evening is free for you to relax, or perhaps indulge in some extra beauty treatments with your own beauty therapist. B
• Day 3 – Cologne Christmas Markets (included), Perfume and Chocolate Walking Tour (included). Today we travel to Cologne to experience the magic of the Christmas markets. Cologne has six Christmas markets located in different areas of the city. We have time to explore the markets and sample the festive specialities, such as mulled wine and roasted almonds. We will then join our guide for an included perfume and chocolate walking tour. We visit the museum dedicated to the famous ‘Farina’ cologne, and the Imhoff chocolate museum, where we discover the secrets of chocolate production, and have the opportunity to sample the produce. Later, enjoy free time in Cologne this evening to soak up more of the sights, before our return to Hasselt. B
• Day 4 – We travel to Calais and return home. B

You’ll stay for three nights at the 4-star Holiday Inn Hasselt, conveniently located in the shopping area and only a short walk from the Marina. The hotel has a restaurant and bar, plus lift and indoor swimming pool. All bedrooms have T.V., telephone, hairdryer and tea/coffee-making facilities.
