CHRISTMAS MARKETS

Montreux and Lake Geneva

Nuremberg

7-Day Break

  • Day 1 – To northern France for an overnight stay.
  • Day 2 – On south through France to enter Switzerland and arrive at our hotel overlooking Lake Geneva at Cully-Lausanne for a four-night stay. B,D
  • Day 3 – Montreux (included). With superb views of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva), we travel to the lovely city of Montreux, home of the rich and famous. Stroll along the lakeside promenade and take in the relaxing and opulent atmosphere. Prior to Christmas the town is alive with the famous Christmas market. A pleasant Advent atmosphere greets you among the decorated stalls. There are over 100 of them, exhibiting the quality of their wares and providing a rich choice for presents, Christmas decorations, handicraft items and innovative products, not forgetting the chalets offering food and mulled wine. B,D
  • Day 4 – Berne (optional). Our chance to visit Switzerland’s grand capital, the old city of Berne, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city centre is largely medieval and, thanks to 4 miles of arcades, the old town has one of the longest covered shopping areas in Europe. Departures in December will benefit from Berne’s annual Christmas market. The streets and alleys are aglow with the lights from windows, and Christmas trees decorate the facades, adding to the ambience. The Old Town houses provide a great backdrop to the market where you can relax, enjoy the food and fare and perhaps pick up that special gift. B,D
  • Day 5 – Geneva (included). Travelling west around Lake Geneva, we visit the cosmopolitan city of Geneva where the grand lake flows into the River Rhône. See the famous sights, including the Reformation Monument and the most notable landmark, the fountain or Jet d’Eau, whose 140-metre-high column of water can be seen from many parts of the city. At this time of year, in the Place de la Fusterie, the Geneva international Christmas market village takes place, where you can purchase goods from all over Europe, as well as local products to take home as gifts. B,D
  • Day 6 – We leave our hotel after breakfast and travel to our hotel in northern France. B
  • Day 7 – Homeward bound via Calais. B
